You really need 4gb of RAM??? If you do, then sweet system

I think i do, I have 3 gb in 32 bit xp right now, and i hit the 2gb limit alot, more than i want. It's frustrating to no end.

Hello,

Save yourself some money since 2 gb is all you really need. Having 4 sticks slows the computer down since it has to address all 4 slots.

Ditch the 4400 and get an Opteron 175 (2 X 2.2ghz with 2 X 1mb cache). It runs faster, OC's better, lower temps, and lower voltages too. Cost more, but having a server class chip (can run apps and games)for less than FX is a great buy.

ALso, workstations need their own video card as oppose to gaming card equivalents to deliver the graphics performance.

Still in the process of moving, It seems the most of the amd boards can access ddr 400 in 4 dimms if you use 512 sticks. Sigh, but in 4 1 gig sticks they msi, dfi, and asus boards will see 3+gigs at ddr 333. Which defeats my purpose in having 4 gigs of ram...

which means if i want that i need a server class board, or i drop my self to two 1 gig dimms (which i have) and up my processor to a 4800 or preferably a 180 optetron..

sigh...
