I am getting a new system and was looking for some good speakers. I found the logitech z5500 digital 500w silver black analog speakers and was wondering if analog is good and if not what to get. I'm not very familiar with speaker specs so try to make answers fairly simple.

Speakers by nature are "analogue" and that is usually the best choise... It also depends on your sound card.

The Z5500 Logitech speakers are an amazing set of speakers. Make sure you get the NEW VERSION of the speakers. The old ones had the crappier colored speaker plugs, whereas the newest set has the normal speaker wire, that you crimp in. Makes it so you can put in like any other speakers as well, or upgrade the length of the speaker cable with ease. You can get them for super cheap compared to similar systems from creative etc. If you dont want to spend as much, the z5300e are also a very very good set of speakers (what i have, I was very impressed. It makes it sound like you are actually in a tank in BF2). Anyways, maybe check out www.logitech.com for more info on the speakers.

I will also back the Z5300e 5.1 solution. I have had these speakers for over a year and am still amazed at the sound quality when paired up with the SB Audigy 2 ZS. At the time i got them for $200 at a local shop, so im sure you can find them for less than that now.

FedEX is delivering my Z-5500 this upcoming Monday. I am very excited. It will be a nice step up from my 6 year old Altec Lansing ADA 305 2.1. The cheapest I found was at CompUSA for 330.00US. Product number 50767168. I'll let you know......

Where did you buy it from and how much? The speakers sounded really nice at Best Buy (I only go there to browse =)). I was tempted to blow it up to max volume but...

I just purchased the z5500 because my old z680's blew out after two years.
I have to say that there is a huge improvement form the previous versions and z680's The LCD is very clear even from a distance. Oh! mind you that the Subwoofer is huge so find room for it. You will not be disapointed with the z5500. You could get it at zipzoomyfly for $255.99 that's where I got mine.
