I recently purchased a mobo that has no RAID 0 support. I was wondering, does this mean I can't have RAID at all, or can I just buy a RAID controller?
Also, do two HDDs have to be of the same make to be used in RAID?

If your motherboard has onboard RAID, usually RAID0 and 1 are supported, sometimes 5.
If not, you need to add a RAID controller card, PCIe or PCIx preferred.
It is better to use same make and model drives, but not exlusively, it is just for best performance and a minimum of wasted space.
