I have a network where my POS system is SQL based. I have two servers to
handle this. Both are Windows 2K3 SP1.

The system is running very slow w/ 20 users and when I get 30 users on then
some get knocked out of the application and sometimes even there RDC drops.

I have configured the TS server to have 2 GB of RAM based on 40 MG per user.

The SQL server has 512 MG of RAM and I see no memory issues in perfmon.

The application support team is telling me that the SQL server needs to have
2 - 3 GB of RAM.

This does not make a lot of sense to me. Can a SQL server require more RAM
than the TS server?

What perfmon options would I look at to determine this?

SQL Server, not the same as MSDE, does require a lot of RAM and almost
always should be on it's own server.

Unless your transactions are very small, SQL server should have at least
1GB of RAM, in fact, if you let it manage itself, SQL Server will take
all but a small amount for itself.

You didn't describe the server in details, hope you have at least 2
CPU's and a strong array.
