Half Life 2 Freezes PC

[Excalibur]

I have just installed Half life 2 on my pc and when I go to play it it satrts alright but then after the valve man it freezes on a blurry image I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix this problem and Half Life 1 and Counter strike source dont even start when I try to open them. Any help with this will be appreciated
