We will be using Wyse terminals to connect via RDP to a server. The clients
will be accessing a media rich website through the RDP session.
1. Does the server need to have a sound card in it to redirect the sound to
the Wyse terminal, or just use the RDP drivers ?
2. I have read other posts claiming that the is not very good over the rdp
session. Has anyone had success do this ?

I have tested this using RDP to a windows XP and the wyse box, where a sound
card was in the XP machine. and the performance didnt seem bad at all.. Using
the same wyse device, I connected to a server via RDP and did not get the
sound, as there is no sound card installed. Is it a true statement that I
need to have a sound card loaded on the server itself for this to work
properley ?

You need Windows 2003 TS to support audio redirection.

You do *not* need a sound card on the server.
Because the sound is rendered by a virtual device, having a
physically present sound card won't accomplish anything.

Check that you have audio redirection enabled on the server (it's
disabled by default).
