Those screws attack your motherboard to your case. Otherwise, you would have nothing but your faceplate holding the motherboard up. It would be even worse if the motheboard is directly against the motherboard tray - that is just begging for electrical short outs.

To put it simple, your case should have came with motherboard retention screws. Attach those screws to the appropriate place in your motherboard tray. After that, place screws into the motherboard standoffs(that is what the holes are for). The purpose of all that is to keep your motherboard away from the back of the case.

there are supposed to be screws in all of the holes in the motherboard. i dont know if it will fall out with just one screw but the more that are in there the more secure your motherboard is going to be. if you have more to put in you might as well do it.

oh but i got a tower and NOTHING hold my mobo to case.

well there should be screws and brass colored mounts for them that will screw into the case and then you can place the motherboard on that and screw the motherboard in. so the layer should go.... case, brass mount, motherboard, screw.

screws shouldve come with the case... or the motherboard im not exactly sure which but im leaning toward case...

aslong as it isnt touching other metal its fine i run my bare mobos on the carpet, because im cool like that :D

then put in a screw or 7. whats the big deal? if its going to fall then screw it in. why do you ask the question if you and then continue to whine about how it might fall out? this thread should have been dead a while ago!

LOL, has anyone ever tried having a computer that isn't in a chassis? Or a computer in some sort of modular multi-case chasis. EG. Peripherals on desk, power supply in the middle, mobo and whatnot laying in drawer.

yup. i had mine on a cardboard box like i said b4 and i have a friend that is running his sitting on a bookshelf. when i build a new system i tend to test it out of the case first cuz its easier to change parts if something isnt working right. :D ill see if i still have the pic of of my friend's, funny stuff.
