I had given to me a used computer, it is a 386 Pentium,
233-hz. and has Windows ME installed on it. It is barely
running because I am getting all kinds of warnings about
memory etc. but the person who had it before me use to
have Windows 95 running on it before they upgraded it to
the ME system and they said that it ran just GREAT on
Windows 95!! So here is my question. If I buy a Windows
95 UPDATE software to install OVER THE Windows ME version
that is presently on it, will it go through the
installation process without giving me any problems? The
reason I ask is because I am actually DOWNGRADING to 95
from ME. Any help with be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! George

You will not be able to install W95 as an upgrade to that system. You can
delete the existing installation of ME and install W95 as a new
installation, but if you are using an upgrade version you will need to have
a qualifying product such as a WfW3.1 disk set. The simplest option would
be to format the disk and install a full version o W95. If the disk has
been set up as FAT32 and your version of Windows is earlier than 95B then
you will have to delete the existing partitioning and recreate the disk with
FAT16 partitions.
