2800+ xp barton core, some issues

Hi,
I have a 2800+ barton and a MSI KT333 ultra 2 mobo. I used to have a stick of 512mb pc2700 RAM in there running at 180mhz so it was a bit of and overclock. Now i just bought a stick of 1gb pc3200 RAM, and its the only stick of ram in the machine and it will only go into windows at 100mhz or 166 mhz, if i put it at 180 is just won't do anything. I have it running at the correct timings and voltage and I have no idea how to get it to post and load at 180 again. I also tried lowing the multiplyer to like 11 and put 200 in there, nothing happens, i was thinking that the barton is multiplyer locked. So if you can help me out that would be just great!

*Old ram was samsung pc2700

The RAM doesnt like your mobo? I have read weirder things trust me. I would say return the RAM as it is not worth the upgrade in my opinion. Use the cash and by an XP-m if you can find one. You should get a 300mhz OC on default settings (I did) others say they got much more. if not, enjoy what you have now my friend!

well, i just wish i could get that 180 outta it, it was nice, just wanted 1gb of ram instead of 512, it was running so nice

i do have an unopen stick of 512 kingston....maybe i should put that in with my 512 samsung, they both pc 2700 and see if it runs

Is the 14mhz boost really an issue for you? You know, the thing about overclocking is that ANY day could be your last. What is stable today, may not be stable the next time you boot up even if you dont change out parts. Maybe your mobo just doesnt want to play anymore....

i just put that kingston in, and it boots up fine with the samsung at 180mhz, so cpu running at 2.26 instead of 2.083.....it does make a difference for me, when gaming in source i get a hell of a lot better fps when after this rate
