L. Mulder mentions an interest in converting European maps for Moving
Map. That would be a service, not only to European aviators, but also
to people outside of Europe but want to fly online.
Now that SB3 makes it so easy to connect, I've been going on VATSIM
every night. Normally I stick to the Los Angeles FIR, because I've got
charts for it. I'd like to try flying online in Europe, but everyone
strongly recommends having charts. I know you can download some of
these, but I need a paper map. Last winter I bought a used copy of "The
Pilot's 'Free Flight' Atlas," which is adequate for getting a general
picture of things but not more than that.
I've bought ONCs from Sporty's -- these are good enough for VFR, but
they don't show frequencies, V-routes, or intersections. Anyone know of
a US distributor for non-US low-altitude enroute charts?
