I have decided to build a $3500-4000 dollar system. Was wondering what you guys would do for hardware. Processor, MB, Graphics, HD, etc. The processor ive pretty much decided on the 4800+ or the duelcore operton 280. Also i am moving towards a 1900XTX ati card. Are these good, also what else would you guys buy. (ram etc)

for 4,000 you can basically build anything you want in that system.

you could probably do Crosfired X1900's and everything

hell, i just built a simple gaming system with a 7800GT for undre 700 bucks. with 4,000 you can build the world

Did you mean dual core 180? (No reason to pay more for a 2xx to get the 2nd core, and the 2xx series of Opterons are all socket 940, and vastly more expensive than 1xx series dual-cores....)

$3500-$4000?

It'd actually be hard to spend that much, unless also buying a 2405fp monitor from Dell in that budget!

I'd probably end up with a four-disk SATA RAID5 setup, a dualcore 939 Opteron, four gigs of RAM, dual-graphics of goodness only knows what, some nice soundcard, and a matching nice speaker set. **shrug** I don't know. I'm too lazy to see what I could really spec with that much cash right now. Plus my heart's already been broken once this year.

Well if money wasnt an object then i would wait for socket AM2 and get duel 7900 gtx, but you would have to wait till around march/april to do all this maybe even a bit longer, id also put in some 150 gb raptors in raid 0

As far as waiting for AM2, i dont think i will do that. If i wait for a system to long then i eventually will spend the money on other things.

This is what my setup looks like so far.

-AMD Fx-60 or 4800+
-Asus A8N-SLIā„¢ Deluxe. Should i go with a crossfire board or what is the best motherboard to buy.
-2 gigs of ocz gx xtc gold or platinum
-ATI radeon 512 1900XTX
- OCZ powersteam power supply 600W
- Zalmon 9500 led cpu cooler
- sound card, x-fi something???
- Acouple 150x raptors in raid 0
-and 2x pioneer 16x burners

What else should i do, anything should i change???

whats with the DFI boards? ASUS beats them in bench marks before overclocking.

Since when?

Besides the obvious PC parts the most I would spend is $1500, any more then that and your getting into less bang for the $ parts.

I would invest into a $1000 projector and a nice screen, and about another $1000 into an audio setup. The rest into somthing like phasechange system for the CPU and a sweet water setup for the rest of the parts ($500 easy)

That about sum it up?
