Hey I'm looking at buying another LCD since mine is old, 15" and the resolution is low.

What are the important things that I want to be looking for in a LCD
I want to use it for gaming, any preferred companies?

Thanks everyone

wide screen is nice but not a must a few games (Quake 4 and UT2K4 ) are some that can take advantage of that , a few things to me that are a must are DVI input, and a resolution of 1280 X 1024 , also you will want to look for one with a good contrast ratio and brightness many look to bright and can't display blacks very well

ok cool thanks

What does UXGA mean

Would widescreen be better, if I am willing to wait for new games to utilize it?

You want an LCD with a low response time as well lots of new panels with 8ms or less.

Depending on your budget, you can get a basic Dell 19" (E193fp, 1280x1024) for as little as $265 on sale; although it has but an analog input, I'm very happy with it, and I can detect no ghosting during gaming.

Also from Dell, you can find a 2001fp (20.1", 1600x1200) for around $503 every couple of months when Dell has a sale; i bought one in early Jan and love it, arrived in 2 days, free shipping!

I don't know what budget you have but I am currently using the Gateway FPD2185W and this is the most amazing monitor i have used yet , it has more inputs then i ever thought i needed PIP, HD ,16Ms responce widescreen 1680 X 1050 resolution , but it has a $599 price tag that goes with it , if you can afford it then this is the best for the money that i have found gateway.com has a nice page with its features, when it came out TG daily did a thing about it and rated it very highly, and yes i did forget to mention a good responce time as that is important.
