Hi everyone.

I have a VIA VT6105 Rhine III Fast Ethenet adapter connected through a Cisco 837 broadband router.
I get a message showing that I am connected at 100Mpbs but I can't see any other PC's on the network and in IE I get the message 'unable to find host'.
I have no anti virus programs running or firewalls enabled and i've tried ipconfig/release - renew but it doesn't make any difference.

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

Do the other computers have sharing enabled on them. Could be a dns problem as well try going into the command shell and pinging them by their ip address.

If Cisco router has DHCP server, enable in TCP/IP properties for appropriate network adapter auto assign IP address and DNS. Everything should then work properly.

Sound like a DNS problem.

Without a dns you go no where. I neighbor of mine has a closed network, no internet service. His XP computers could see no body. I activated a demon on a BSD box to handle the DNS.
