I would make this suggestion. Forget the 8-track tape player for
right now. Instead go to Target and get a $10 cassette tape player.
One that you can lock the "play" button down, and turn the player
on and off (in play mode) by turning the 120 volt cord on or off.
Also make sure it has a 120 volt plug, and it has a headphone output
jack.
Now go to radio shack or any online place or ebay and get a cassette
endless tape loop. RS only sells 30 second endless tapes, which is
rather short. but you can buy online ones up to 5 minutes.
i would say 2 minutes would work, as most gun game times are
one minute. These tapes are used for outgoing messages on
phone message recorders.
Now get some music. play around. use a music editor. heck use
a video editor in music mode. create a 2 minute or longer
file you like, save it to WAV format. Get creative.
Now you can play it out your computer's sound card headphone
jack or even CD player jack. cable it to your a tape deck.
or even that $10 cassette player you just bought. Record
the music onto the endless loop tape. You can use a freeware
program to do this. I use Audio Grabber which is free.
Now to hook it up to the game. you can hook it up to *ANY*
EM gun game! Just add a switch to the game over relay
and a 120 volt plug, which toggles 120 volts on when the
game is being played. If the game originally had an 8-track
player it's even easier. Just plug the new cassette player
into the 8-track's power plug! Push the "play" button down
and keep it locked down.
Have fun and play the game! set the volume as needed.
When you have the music all done the way you like and
tested in the cassette player rig, you can give the file
to Mark and have him convert it to 8-track. Or you can
continue to use the cassette player. Just wire the game's
speaker through the tape player's headphone jack.
Or if you are really sick, go to ebay and buy an 8-track
recorder. they are less than $50. You can also buy some
blank 8-track tapes. Make your own 8-track. Actually i don't
suggest that. I would say use the cassette player or have
Mark do it. Mark has a pretty 8-track recorder rig.
There ya go!
