Please help in choosing memory

Background

I'm looking at a purchasing a new system. Originally I was aiming for the Opteron 148 which were at about $205 at Newegg + 35 for the cooler. Now I see that the price is up to about $250 so I'm planning to go for the Opteron 165 instead which is about $325 at ZZF.

"Upgrading" the CPU forces me to downgrade the RAM. I was initially aiming for 2GB GSkill att Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231047
$169 for C2.5

I will probably go for 1GB instead.

Any suggestions on what I should get and from where?
