Page File Usage

I ended a flight which took me back to the "Create a Flight" screen, and
minimized the window so I could look at something in "My Documents". Other
than normal background programs and the "Create a Flight" screen from FS9,
my computer was at rest, but my PF usage was 558MB. FYI my RAM is 512 and
I'm running P4 1.8 machine.

Is that amount of page file usage normal? Seems like alot considering I
wasn't actually flying at the time.

Thanks,

Keith

yeah sure it's normal. You could have a FIXED page file size or let
the OS dynamically adjust the `swap' file. In the example about you'd
have ~1GB of `virtual memory'.. the sum of physical and swap file.

Personally i have 512MB of ECC RAM and a FIXED page file at 512MB..
mainly so it won't fragment (as if it really matters). The system has
never really run out of memory.. except maybe once or twice in 7 years
during those `runaway' conditions where for instance you tell it (my
mistake) to open ever 4MB graphic in a whole folder!!

Yup that's normal. Actually don't be surprises to see that much PF usage if you have 1GB of RAM with FS.

Another note. When FS9 runs out of memory it just quits giving you eye candy.
