I've been building desktop systems for years now and never gave the mobility of a laptop a second look. I'm wondering now if anyone builds their own laptop? I've never seen mobos for this nor have I seen "cases"/monitors. Anyone?

it can be done but as you cant buy laptop parts it requires you look at places like ebay and buy spare laptop parts or a laptop with a broken monitor then switch all the cvomponents with a laptop with worse components.

so basically buy lots of broken laptops take the parts that work and build your own.

want my advice just buy one from dell, or a local store.. ive been looking at the dell inspiron 6000 recently(decent system nice price)

IT can be done for a heck lot of $$$$$$$
WHat you do is go to ASUS for the barebone and Intel for CPU and get the rest elsewhere.

THis is the only way to get some good hand built laptops.

The dell inspiron 6000 is a nice system, I love my 15" widescreen LCD!!! It definietly is better for watching movies on an airplane!! My only complaint is that I wish I'd upgraded the battery, I got the stock 54Wh and it is baerly enough for a two-hour or so movie before the battery dies. Also, if you look at a 6000, be sure to get the discrete graphics solution. . otherwise your graphics will have 'shared' memory with the system. The mobility X300 isn't TOO bad. . (don't laugh).
