Actually - I want to install WinXP. I have a new hard
drive - a Western Digital 80GB. I want to install the
operating system from scratch. I have the XP upgrade. I
also have the 98 upgrade, and I have the 95 full version.
The documentation says that the new hard drive does not
support Win95 - but I'm hoping to get around this. I get
an error when I try to boot with the Win95 cd saying NTLDR
is missing. How do I get past this.

Thanks!

Tracy

do *not* try to install win95 or win98 first
just go right to your XP install...
all you will have to do is insert your win98 cd (when asked) for
verification

Thanks! Sounds reasonable! But I tried this.. and when
it tries to boot from the WinXP CD - it still gives the
NTLDR is missing error. What now???

XP questions should be asked in an XP newsgroup. That's
where the XP experts hang out.

that message is one you will get if you have a floppy in the drive
that was formatted on an NT machine...
as the other person suggested...
it's best to ask XP questions on an XP group
