Start up in Safe Mode, open the Display control panel, and set the resolution and
palette to what it was before....apparently your laptop screen does not support the
settings you made. Then restart in normal mode.
To start in Safe Mode:
-Start the computer and when it says on-screen "Starting Windows 95..."(just before
the Windows logo appears), repeatedly tap the F8 key till the Windows 95 Startup
menu (boot menu) appears.
-Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.
