I am getting this message on my start-up of my win95 laptop command
interpreter
(e.g.,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)

I know this is an essential DOS system file.

I think this file is now on a bad sector that cannot be read. I tried
downloading the
boot disk files for 95 from http://www.bootdisk.com/,
transfer them to a floppy disk, place it in the floppy
drive and boot the system. It now tells me it is a non-system disk or disk
error.

I am at a loss. my laptop is dead .....

most of the boot disk from bootdisk.com selfextract to the floppy (Eg: run
the .exe file and it prompts you for a blank disk)...you say you transfered
?

check your boot sequence in the BIOS to be sure that A: is first
choice....if you do get it to boot to a: ...type "sys c:" and then try to
reboot to the HD

Don't transfer the downloaded file from bootdisk.com to a floppy....it is a bootdisk
maker program. You must run (double-click) the downloaded file on the computer
where you downloaded it, and it will tell you to insert a blank floppy disk, and
then will proceed to create the boot floppy for you. When it is done, you bring the
floppy to the problem computer, and boot with it. Be sure your computer is set in
the BIOS to boot from the floppy drive A: first.
