This is my new "educated" build. Let me know what I can do to max out my performance for money!

AMD x2 4400+ with Zalman CNPS9500 LED
Antec P160W case
Western digital caviar 250gig 16mb sata II
OCZ DDR400 platinum dual channel, 2gig
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR (or Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe?)
OCZ Modstream 520 watt PSU (OCZ52012U)
Leadtek PX7800GTX

I know double the cache on the 4400+ is not an important aspect to improve performance right now cuz 512k is sufficient for everything you can throw at the 4200+, but I will have this comp for a while, so I went with 1mb cache instead. If I am able to get hold of a 165 from my supplier I'll go for that.

Is the CNPS9500 LED a little heavy for my mobo? It's 530g, recommended weight is 450. But it's a kick ass cooler. Any similar performing coolers that are much lighter?

The motherboard I am unsure of, although I've rounded it down to these last two. I know the Asus has SLI x16 which is a probably an awesome feature later on when games can fully utilize it, but the DFI is cheaper and is just plain awesome as are all their products. So I'm a little torn, the money is not a huge factor in my choice though. Are their any flaws in the Asus board? I know the DFI is pretty much perfect. I won't be overclocking to the max, just from the stock 2.2 to about, 2.5-2.6 on air.

The video card I'm pretty much set on, going to clock it to about 470-80, (not sure what's a good number for it, not a whole lot of info). I'm also looking at SLI 7800GTs, which are the best brand for performance+price?

I'm really excited about the Antec case and the OCZ RAM+PSU. I think they're all awesome choices. But I'm still asking questions, will the PSU be sufficient in running my system with SLI? Will the RAM be good in overclocking? And will the case be able to keep my system cool after overclocking (only two fans, although I've only seen good reviews on it).

Grand total with the DFI mobo = 2167 CAD...seems a little pricey for what I'm getting. Or it just me.

A nice system....

But....before paying about $900 on a pair of 7800GTX cards, might want to compare them to a single X1900XT's cost of $540....

see www.firingsquad.com for just such a comparison, frequently the single 1900XT is just as fast and sometimes faster, and $400 saved is always a good thing! (SInce Nvidia is due to release new cards in March anyway)

Here is the FEAR comparison...

I've decided to go with the eVGA 7800GTX KO. I can get it for about 150 bux less than the X1900. I was wondering would I be able to run SLI with two eVGA 7800GTX KOs on the DFI UT NF4 SLI-DR mobo? Cuz I know they have a diff cooler on them sorta like the Asus TOP version and Leadtek extreme which are two slot coolers. Is the eVGA KO a one slot cooler solution? As for the SLI 7800gtx compared to the one x1900, I'm not getting the second 7800gtx any time soon. until the price drops on it.

1 slot, but i wouldn't recommend puttin another card directly under that card covering up the fan. Also it would be a really tight fit for that next pci card under the vid card, but nonetheless, "mostly" a 1 slot hehe

I have 2 KO editions in SLI and there is room above 2 card to slide a pci card in.
