Hi there,

will it be possible to remove W95 and install W98 on my laptop?

Thanks for any feedback!

The answer depends on two things:

1. What does the laptop have as hardware? For Win98, you need at least
24 MB of ram, 64 MB are much better. You need at least 500 MB of
harddisk, 1 BG is better. Speed? I'd say 256KH or faster.

2. Laptop makers often use hardware that does not work properly with
Microsoft's versions of Windows, and so the laptop makers modify
Windows. You need to ask the company that made the laptop whether it
requires a customized version of Windows, and if so, whether they can
provide such for you.

Hi Bill,

1. Okay, the laptop has 64Mb ram and 6GB hard disk. Not sure about the
speed, but should be okay, I would say...

2. My Company bought this Toshiba Tecra laptop and they no longer exist, at
least not here in the Netherlands.
We have a store here which will re-install Windows for 30 Euro's or so, but
I assume you need to have the version... Not sure, never needed them so
never wondered about it!!

Thanks for your reply anyways, I think I know enough!

Best Regards,
Ellen

the machine should run win98 ok but there is the possibility of not having
all the drivers...
if your win95 installation is working ok...maybe you just want to do an
upgrade
instead of a clean install

Toshiba still exists in the Netherlands -

Your machine will probably be OK with a generic Windows version, but be sure
that you have gathered all the required driver and utility software from the
Toshiba site before you start the upgrade.

Yes, Thank god Toshiba still exists in the Netherlands... Although you make
me kind of worried with this remark.
I always have had Toshiba's for my laptops and I love them, so they better
not leave me.

Best Regards,
Ellen
