Good afternoon,

Does anyone know why Office XP software will not operate on a PC purchased
in 1995? The machine runs the Windows 95 operating system, is a 486 system
with 8 MB of memory.

Thank you.

Because it won't. Was never intended to. Nothing about your system comes even
close to reaching Office XP's minimum requirements.

Or are you just having fun?

That's easy.

The minimum OS requirement is Windows 98.

The minimum RAM requirement is 24 MB of RAM.

The minimum CPU requirement is a Pentium 133 megahertz.

Your machine strikes out on all 3 requirements.
