Not sure about your 3dmark06 score, but the 3dmark05 score listed in your sig (7300+) is way too low I think. You have clocked your 7800GTX to nearly the same as my Asus 7800GTX Top (486/1350 Factory OC) and yet your score is way lower then what i get with Athlon64 3700+ (Stock)... i.e., 8550 (with anti-virus etc working in the background). Your 3.4 P4 cant be making that much of a difference as 3dmark05 is much more GPU reliant and doesnt include CPU scores in the 3dmark score. My detailed specs are in my sig.

as i siad before my GT kills your gtx.

1.There must be extra programs running in the background turn them off.

like antivirsus friewall etc.

2.Also go into your driver setup and turnoff AA & AS, also set the slider to performance not quality.

3.Disable some of the startup programs, goto to major geeks to download that software, or ask someone to help you do this.

4.Double check motherboard drivers and graphics card drivers are the latest.

By following the above tips should increase you score. GOODLUCK.

you double checked your motherboard drivers yes and you switched AA and AS off in the grphics properties yes?

If so even im stumped.

But theres one more thing which certainly boosts scores on any PC do a fresh operating system instal, reformat the hard drive and this should boost the scores it did for me.

checked mobo drivers, and no way im redoing my os, did it once took me a week to get it right, got x64 pro so it takes me for ever cuz u have to get lucky when u instal it, so i guess im just stuck wit a low score

You have WindowsXPx64?? Why didnt you say so before. That is probably whats giving you a poor score in 3dMark05. I hear 3dmark05 is not meant for XPx64 and most people cant even finish the whole benchmark on the 64bit wondows.

Anyhow, sorry to contradict RX8, but i wont take his advice and disable my anti-virus and bump down the quality settings to performance. Thats not how I got my 3dmark05. Its taken with Norton Internet Security 2005 running in the background and other standard stuff, with driver settings on default and on Quality. I am presently using 82.12, but my score was on the 81.95 I think. My point is, that the relevent score in these benchmarks is the one which is obtained under normal using conditions, i.e., conditions which are prevalent when you play your games or run other graphical applications. I dont disable my Security and Anti-Virus to play games, no thank you sir.

BTW, I think I get a similar 3dMark06 Score (around 4200 or so) as yours so thats why i am curious as to your low 3dmark05 score. but no worries, its most probably the incompatability between XP64 and 3dmark05.

I wonder what is the major difference between performance and quality mode ...I set the driver to high performance and played F.E.A.R ..I noticed that nothing was different ...same graphic and same FPS !!

I have 6745 on mine.

GA-8N SLI Royal mobo
Pentium D 840 oc 3.517 Ghz
4x512 corsair ddr2 xms2 pro at 667mhz with 4-4-4-12-15 1T timing
BFG Tech 7800 GTX 256
74 Gb Raptor.

I run it on the freebie software.

I run it again squeezing out more points at 7012 points ( i have the pics)
but my new official record is now 6979.

This is an air cooled system and I'm soon to invest on water cooling for more overclocking.

Or you could just change from the default resolution of 1280 x 1024 to what RX8 is using for his scores of 1024 x 768. Don't feel too bad about comparing your scores to his, they're gonna be high at that resolution.

What mobo are you runnin on? I'd recommend you find some better ram...you'll score higher 1:1 over a divider. Although you should be able to oc easier running with a divider. Are you really running 1.6v to your cpu? Are you madd?! =P I tried 1.5 on my 3800...and i was afraid i was pushing it lol. but then all the top guys are pushing 1.8v (but they have freezer systems too...). Most folk don't push past 1.55.

My 3000 won't go past 245 with 1.45...i suppose i should push a lil harder heh. I'd rather have a low oc then burn it out tho. I really don't think i'll do that unless i push well past that tho. The 3000 doesn't get hot either...=) <houston i think i have a new project...>

I think i've hit the limits of the ram with my 3800, so it probably is about time i pushed that 3000 again, that tccd is just goin to waste. =)

=P...they're 6800gt's... The same ones i've had for the last year or so.

Is that oc'd? If not i bet u could push that score over the 10k and 5k marks. Or with 06, if you had a dual core, it'd probably already be over 10k, unless thats what you're using now.

Ahh. Ok, well scratch those ideas...heh. I got pretty lucky with my 2gb modules, let me push up to 255 1:1, and 270 on a divider. I think i'm hitting my limits though, that's oc'd at 1.5v, and that's all the stupid board lets me have. =).

That said, i loaded in to windows and got the first result of superpi 32m, at 300x9 (with some tccd), but i couldn't make that anywhere near stable. Half my problem is i don't know how the different timings interact though. When shooting for 260 fsb 1:1, i preset to 1.8v or 1.9v depending on which ram i was using, and 3 10 5 5 13 14 3 3 1T. Where i was unstable, i could make it 1/3 the way through superPi 32m. And (15 passes or so), with 2.5 10 3 3 11 22 3 3 1T 1.9v (tccd). Switching the 1T to 2T should have saved me there...but it didn't, when i switched, it would die before the 1st pass. That tccd is so odd. I can get really good or really bad timings completely dependant on that 5th and 6th timing. I think they were twcl and ah something like that...meh that wasn't it, if i had my notes here at work...Oh well. Guess i just need to keep messing with it (or it may be that i just need a little more voltage on the cpu...but 255 is stable at 1.4875v...).

Hey Herr, nice scores, nice system.

Have you had any trouble with your G5 locking up on you? I've gotten rid of mine, but i've been watching for other people with similar systems to follow up on it. My g5 would lock up for 20-30sec then unlock. After not being able to solve the issue, i just bought a different mouse, problem solved.

Thanks!
The G5 has had no issues so far. In fact, I have had zero problems with this entire build, which pleased me to no end. Only things left are a good set of surround speakers, and a little cable management and I'm all set.

Fritz

Thx for the quick reply. I was able to use the g5 on my backup system, the 3000+ on a nforce 4 board, but not with my 3800+ x2 on a nforce 4 board. They were so similar, the only thing i could figure was that there was an issue with a driver or the x2. Thx anyway.

My 3dMark06 score was 11910

System:
E8500 3.16ghz dual core (no O.C.)
2GB DDR2 800mhz RAM
GeForce8800GT

running Windows XP PRO and I still need a new harddrive :p

I would say your score is decent to play some lower end or older games, but if you wanna run the newer games like Crysis and such effectively, you should defiantly get it up. the GeForce8800GT is really quick cheap now, and will allow you to play almost anything. IF you don't mind paying a bit extra I'd just go get something in the 800 or 900 series that's over 512mb.

Just remember that no matter how good your graphics card is, your performance will be limited to your CPU. After upgrading my CPU (which i did a month AFTER my new Graphics Card), I jumped from 17->80 on COD4 full specs 75->210 on CS:S and probably more the quadrupled my old 3dmark06 score.

An oldie but a goodie.

Bought my rig in Sept. '06. Recently had to replace my 7950GX2. ( man, that thing was expensive when I bought it) I knew that top card ran hot, but I neglected it until it started bluescreening.

Turns out the 9800GTX was a good replacement / upgrade for me.
