i see that the a8n32sli-deluxe motherboard is compatible with xms3500ll
2 gig kit which cost £220 which seems expensive.
i want to use my computer for photo and video editing and playing games now and then. do i really need 2 gig or would i be better of just spending £75 on xms3200pro 1 gig kit?
I don't think you'll need 2 gigs of ram. In some benchmarks 2 Gigs performed worse than 1 gig of ram in games (don't have the links anymore to prove it, sorry) and for photos it should do.
That said, it could help with video editing depending on how serious you are about it and how big your projects get. If you're encoding the odd DVD backup now and then, that doesn't count. But if you have Film projects with several Gigabytes of data being turned every session 2 gigs wold probably improve your workflow.
But then again, if you're focused on Video Editing you won't need that expensive high performance Ram. In that case a solid valuepack by a major brand would probably do.
You'll have do decide what's more important to you: Gaming or Video editing.
