Hi all. This is my first post at TomsHardware. The site is amazing....helped me a lot with my upcoming first home build. Anyway, I'll get right to the question.

I'm just purchased an Intel 975x motherboard. With this motherboard and chipset am I better off with 4 x 512MB DDR2 or 2 x 1GB DDR2? I do not plan on overclocking. I noticed other posts on this question, but not relating to the Intel 975x motherboard. Thanks!

Its usually always better to just to use 2x1Gig configurations regardless of MB. Having more hardware on the board takes up more resources and generally will give you smoother performance. I have a 975x board as well which I just got and am planning on using the 2x1 config for it.

Thanks for the input. I went with 2x1GB setup. And I just got the mobo so I'm looking forward to trying it out. Could you just quickly explain what 1T command rate is? I'm not that familiar with RAM terminology.
