is the 7800 GTX 512 worth the $750 ? I really want to put it in my pc, but I am wondering if I should just wait till the new cards come out in March. Does anyone know when the answer to ATI will be on the e-shelfs?

You do know the X1900XTX is under $600 and will leave the $150+ more expensive 7800 in the dust...Plus it has more features for less, oh, and speed.

Agreed, atm x1900xtx does trump it, but how long did it take for ATI to answer nVidia? I am not a fanboy either way, I am personaly just tired of paper launches. Granted ATI has done much better with the X1900XTX launch than its previous generations (X800XT PE anyone? lol), but it will take more than just one good solid launch for me to give up my SLi :p

As for the 7800GTX 512 being worth $750, I would definately say no. If your a fan of nVidia and have the cash, go ahead and pick up a 7800 GTX KO Edition on newegg, but if your flexible I would recommend the x1900xtx.

Talk about a paper launch, think 7800GTX 512, and even now sell for over retail because they can not produce enough for market, having trouble with yields? Buggy, or just desperation pushing them to the limits of their soi?
The X1900's have overclock headroom too.

No time at all for those two since the X1900 came out only a few months later making the X1800 one of the shortest lived top cards. How long did it take for nV to answer the R9700/9800 or X850? But that wait still didn't diminish the strength of the GF6800 and 7800. Considering that the Catalyst 5.13 drivers brought the X1800XT up to GF7800GTX-512 standards in many games, their response was even quicker than the X1900 itself.

I am not a fanboy either way, I am personaly just tired of paper launches.

Then you should dislike the GF7800GTX-512 because it was the empitome of paper launches as was the GF7600 (only available in Asia on launch?)

GF6800Ultra and UltraExtreme? Forget that too did you?

but it will take more than just one good solid launch for me to give up my SLi :p

Yet all it too was a solid GF7800 launch (delayed NV48 ring a bell?) to change. The fact is BOTH companies have solid cards, and both companies are guilty of paper launches, the funny thing is the FIRST time in a long time either company actually meets their launch date with product and people think it's become a new standard. The GTX-512 and GF7600 proved that wrong. ATi has ALWAYS stated that their will launch a product and then have availability within 1 month. Even with the competition staring them in the face with the GF7800 the did follow that for the X1800 series and even for the X850Crossfire, however when compared to the 'new standard' this seemd like a paper launch (how many industries tell you about UPCOMING products? Most of them, the Creative's XFi ring a bell?

And even then I'd advocate for that kinda overprice, get 2 GTs and SLi them, and then sell them when the G71 solution comes out. That would be my suggestion.

Spend your money wisely.

Yes im glad i came to my senses....Changed my order from a 7800 GTX 256mb to a x1900xt 512mb, only cost me 41 extra pounds for a much better card. Seriously, either wait for the new 7900 or just go x1900. 7800 is overpriced now a better card has come out.
