As most of you probably already know, THG did a review on the card today.
Just a couple comments from myself:
1. I'm very very pleased to see nVidia finally release an AGP version of the 7800 series. I feel that ATI and nVidia were way to fast in ditching AGP.
2. I think it might be too little too late for the 7800GS. The x850XT PE has been out for ages now and outpeformed the 7800GS in a good number of benchmarks. Certainly the cards are about equal in performance (with the exception of Doom 3, Quake 4, and Half Life 2)
3. Pricing: the 7800gs (according to THG) is going to be priced at $399 while the x850XT PE is still priced $389. Certainly the 7800GS will give the x850XT PE competition, but count on ATI dropping the price of x850XT very soon.
In the end I have to believe that the X850XT is the superior card. It outperforms the GS in many benches and is cheaper. At the very least the cards are about equal in performance. However, one must consider SM 3.0 support. The 7800 series supports SM 3.0 while the x800 series does not.
The 6800 Ultra AGP 256MB is no longer an option for AGP gamers. It's currently priced over $600 and doesn't offer the same performance as the 7800GS.
Just my opinion.
