I currently have an AGP 5900 Ultra (256) and I am considering upgrading this piece of hardware. Any suggestions? Will I notice a dramatic increase with anything out there, or should I wait until I build my new PCI-E machine (which I plan on doing next year). Thanks!

You'd notice a dramatic increase with an X800 GTO or better, but I wouldn't buy anything better becuase it's not worth the cash.

You can find X800 GTOs under $200.

The geforce 7800 GS is available in AGP, but it's $350 to $400 - and it's not nearly as good as the 7800 GT (which is PCI-express only).

So if you had $350 to $400 to spend, you might as well buy a 7800 GT for $280 and a PCI-express motherboard to boot...

I would say go for the PCI-Express. I mean lets just say you want to upgrade your card right. Well, nvidia has new card for AGP which is the 7800 GS for about $350 bucks. But performance wise it's not as good as the 7800 GT.

So u can upgrade to AGP 7800 GS for around $350

or

Buy a new SLI ready motherboard for around $100-$200 and PCI-E card like 7800 GT for $250-$350.

It will cost you maybe $100-$200 more than the AGP set up. But comparing between cost and performance, I'd say the PCI-E configuration is better and worth it.
