I'm afraid i really cant afford anything better than this its that or 64mg x300 64bit!
Its definately centrino 100% sure.
I was hoping to fear at 30fps on low video but not minimum with dx8 shaders no shadows high or max computer. Either 640 x480 2xaa or 800x600 no AA. Maybe a bit higher on vid settings i i can get away with it.
Half life 2 at defult settings hopefully medium/high and a widescreen res equivelent to 1024x786.
Farcry i would like to run at 800x600 or 1024x786 medium some high not high textures/shodows with. cartoon rederer.
Doom 3 medium at 800x600 or 640x480 with 2xAA no advanced shadows or special effects.
I think i ought to cos my old desktop P4 2.8 512mb ram 5200 le had a far worst vid card and could mange almost this.
D3 is terrible with mobile PCs (kinda system/cpu dependant too), expect it at low 8x6 without AA in order to get good playable framerates, which is still better than my old FX5200GO, but worse than the X700 which is most comfortable in/around 1024x768 with some things turned on or 1280x1024 overclocked and most things turned down.
Well, take half the memory textures of a 9700pro, then also bump the clocks down to 300/300 --thats the mobile 9700 for ya.
You could always change your aperture size to 128mb to remedy this, however that means your using slow(er) system ram if need be.
My 9700pro with my aging 2200+ ran HL2 @ 1024x768 no AA, AF and achieved about 39FPS. Of course I got frame rate dips, when you explode some barrels and physics control takes over, my CPU cried.
As long as your maintaining 30FPS +or- a couple...you should be fine.
I cannot speak for Farcry, as I never played it on my system.
Doom3 I played medium settings with the same rig, wasnt too bad,
playable, however not the most enjoyable.
If your needs can wait, a mobile 6600 or 6800 would be alot better choice.
BTW: There is no such thing as a "Centrino" CPU, its simply the codename for the mobile market. Your CPU would be an 'M' extension
Example: Pentium M or Celeron M

So i could just ad 64mg of system ram do the card? Could you post How to do that its just that could make a big difference for say battlefield 2.
Thanks for those links they were really useful . I got the picture that the mobility 9700 is almost a 9600 pro but better than the 9600 and its mobility counterpart.
Is there any way you can overclock the memory giving it 9600pro/xt performance?
