Anybody got info on a card called ATi XR?
From what I heard from an unreliable source is that this card will be based on the X1900 core and have 1gb ddr3 and a clock speed of 725 and a memory speed up to 1400-1500ghz,
will require outside power source and will occupy 2 in.x 9 in. inside compu.
There's this 'know it all' at a local computer store that says he just got word of this and should have pre-order info soon.
He says it's going to 'totally smoke the 7800GTX'.
Release price in the $600-$800 range.
Anyone else got info or is this just simply untrue?

I havent heard of it... 1 gig, I do not see that happening, what would it be good for???
Memory already is clocked at 1500Mhz and my X1800XT o/c with ATI's very own driver safely to 1600MHz, and my GPU is clocked at 625 MHz stock, and with ATI drivers overclocks to 700MHz...
an extra 512MB of ram would not help at all...

But if in coming months, nVidia turns loose an ATI killer, I expect at a minimum a swift release of an overclocked X1900XTX, since it is clear they have a lot of overclock headroom with their 1.1ns GDDR3 RAM which is rated for 1700 or 1800MHz

1 gig is possible but the ram would need to have 70nm transistor's or less in order to be affordable to produce for the samsung the #1 memory maker in the world

The games today can barley take use of 512mb of RAM on a video card let alone 1 GB. Maybe when Unreal 3 Engine comes out.
