Hi,

I'm running a Athlon XP 2600+, 768 DDR2700 (2x 256 dual channel), agp 8x Nvidia 6600GT under winxp sp2, and i get some serious frame lags while playing BF2 1024x768 all settings to low. I can play the game with all settings to medium, but after 2 maps it starts laggin, i was wondering if that could be a ram problem, or maybe i could try another forceware drivers, any suggestions ?

Regards,

trep

RAM problem, also running a 660GT, and with 768 of RAM BF2 was fine, but at just 512 (single channel) it was unplayable, now I'm at 2Gb its fine (OK its overkill I know). I was on a 2000+ at the time as well.

Seriously 512 of RAM for BF2 is not enough, 1Gb at least. I've clocked total system usage at 1.16Gb whilst playing BF2, so your harddrive will be getting a right trashing with only 512. Get another 512 stick and put in, you might be able to keep 2x256 + 512, if your mobo support dual and single channel at the same time (not sure that any of them do though.)

Mine does, its a A7N8X, 3 ram slots, 2 dual channel 1 single channel, using 3x256 right now, might as well drop a 256 and stick a 1gig into it.

it may be memory, i have a 3700+ x700pro 1 gb memory xfi soundcard and after 3 or 4 maps i experience the same lag u do, just exit the game and reneter, or alt tabbin for a min or 2 did it for me... also lower ur res to 800x600 i have a 2400 and 9600 pro and it ran fine at that res with 512 memory

well, i tried playing 1024 with everything to low, and it runs fine, i can play 4-5 maps without experiencing any frame lag. So i guess that's ram problems, thanks
