Today, the third of all 3 Tt PSU's I have bought and installed in the last 10 months died (one of them even came back from the repair shop for a second go at me). When I turned on the switch at the wall - there was a flash of light and pop goes the power supply. The other two both died of "natural causes" e.g. too many hours of gaming the night before/

When you do your whole routine: switch your computer on in the morning, crank open the drive, put your coffee in the drink holder.. you do not normally want it to suddenly fry itself. WHY WOULD IT DO THAT???!

Anyone else had problems with Thermaltake's PurePower range of PSUs??

I've already cut into one of the 4-pin molex cables to hook up a bunch of extra fans so I don't think its covered under warranty anymore...

Oh well, can anyone pls recommend me a very good, rock solid and reliable PSU brand and model? Around the 450 and 500W range

thanks

Wow, that's a bummer man. I use Antec and have been for years. Simply put, rock solid, reliable, stable and overall good performers. I'm currently using a P2 550W unit and have had it on solid for over 6 months now. Not an ounce of trouble. I also have a 480W unit that has been a good unit as well.

I highly recommend them.

I've got quality Power Supplies running on high end systems for 3-5 years now. Secret: quality, blow the dust out of them periodically, and ALWAYS use a quality surge protector made for computers, or an UPS!

Brands? Antec, Enermax, PC Power and Cooling, SeaSonic; can't go wrong. generally, you get what you pay for! Bling may look kewl, but doesn't add to quality of components, in fact can lower quality (poor connections, etc.

Bingo, been using Antecs True Power for years now. Very good units with reliablility and long life.
Also, among the lesser priced quality PSU's made.

Antec, AC Ryan, Tagan, OZC, Zalman, Ect are good psu's.
Don't by a q-tec or something like that...
Better spend a bit more for a good psu then a shitty one wich will probably die whitin a year or so...
