During my overclockin effort to get to 2.5 Ghz ive failed...no matter what voltage ...ram dividers/ ram voltage/HTT i try its not going beyond 2.4Ghz :?
I have to say that i have the old BIOS version of this mainboard......is flashing it going to help get to my overclock or increase stabilty?
I have an Athlon 64 3700+ in the ASUS A8N-SLI, I have on the 1014 BIOS non-Beta (Beta doesn't like my board). I have been able to get 2.563GHz stable with 1:1 233MHz running 1.435v on CPU and 2.85v on Crucial Ballistix 2x512MB running 3-3-3-8 Timings (Only 100MB/s Bandwidth loss from 2-2-2-5 going to 3-3-3-8 but allowed higher frequency, went from 5.7GB/s at 200MHz to 6.4GB/s 233MHz). My board shipped with the 1012 BIOS, I soon updated via ASUS Update (No Floopy ), I can't comment on Stability of prior BIOS's b/c I have not OC'd w/o new revision, but I would suggest using 1014 and trying the Beta as well, maybe your board will like it.
the mobo should reach above 2,5ghz.
I have an a8nsli with a venice 3000. I have it running all day stable at 285*9 on simple aircooling and with low memory clocks due to very cheap rams (cpu/14=183mhz).
I reached 295*9 as maximum but it was not stable anymore, would need better cooling and/or better ram.
