Hi, I want to buy my mom a pc; all she needs is email and Office.

At the store, the 7000 is worth $29, while the 9250 is worth $41.

Did the exact same thing for my mom with the 7000 a long while back. She wanted the same thing and her system still serves her well. The 7000 may be old but at least it does use Catalyst. If you really need to cut corners to save money (like I had too), and no gaming is going to be involved, then the 7000 will suffice. Funny, I spent $29.00 on the 7000 back then and it was 2 years ago.

However, you could post how much you can spend on the entire system and I'm sure there will plenty of people willing to help you put together the best system for the money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the General Homebuilt forum would be the appropriate place to do that.

feb 14th,2006..me,i have a radeon 7000,according to belarc my mobo is 2x/4x agp,soo im wanting to upgrade to a radeon 9250 but i see its rated as a 4x/8x card..so i wonder if it will work,or mess up things, also comp techs on paltech say it wont even fit in a 7000 slot propely.. yet ive seen a "visiontek" card that uses 9250 w/ 128mg ram to replace ..so,its like hard to figure if u can or cant use it..my mobo is a intel d845wn.. ram=768 pc133..ken n myrtle beach~

dont think there will be a problem as board is rated 2x/4x..not 4x/8x,,as i know those diffrent x's carry diffrent voltages according to ati radeon website..also i wonder if a pci slot(not pcie)..with a better gpu would be better than a slower gpu on a agp 2x/4x slot.. one architectures faster, yet one can have a faster gpu.. smells like a bottleneck situation,i dunno.any ideas.. 1027pm/myrtle beach~ 2-15
