i have one as well....it worked fine with 0903 bios, and still works fine with 1009. cpuz has been updated and it now correctly shows it as an fx-60. Si soft sandra doesnt quite display everthing correctly. Unless you absolutely have to have the fastest chip right now, i would go with the x2 4800 or an opty.....i kick myself everyday for getting the fx.....but i like burning money so......if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. BTW if you do go with this chip and mobo stick with two stick of memory.....four sticks KILLS performance from the 2T timing BS.

you know quite honestly, im going to be upgrading as soon as the m2 stuff comes out. lol : ) is spend too much on computers. beside ill have my uber FX box that will last for 12 + years and my new M2 box that will last 12 + years. Just like my P3 that is still going and has been reallocated as my file server.

I've got an FX60 and A8N32 SLi MB shipping to me as we speak. I am using OCZ Plat 2x1G ddr500 sticks of RAM. I am hoping for a good solid 2.9-3.0G on air overclock.

Using this case: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811233002

And this cooler: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835118223

I think the case design of twin 120mm fans out the back directly lined up with the flow of the Zalman will give quite a large airflow over the CPU HS. Anyone with experience OC this combo? Am I being too optimistic? 8)

who does ddr500 ram work on this board? it only supports upto ddr400.

I use ddr500 on this board and it runs great. Go to corsairs site and they list the 4000pt as the best overclocker for this board. At least for another few weeks until the rumored 4400 comes out.

So what's wrong with the FX60? I plan to get one, what's the difference between the X2 4800+ and the FX60 anyway? apart from the 0.2GHz difference?

the FX-60 is a better designed processor (even at the same frequency), but with the FX-60, there are two cores unlike the other FX processors.
plus it is waaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive. i will definitely buy one when the price is as low as its gona get

I see! I'm currently using an AMDX2 3800+ and I overclocked it at 2.5GHz. My current system is pretty fast already, I just don't know if it's right for me to get the FX60, if the performance leap isn't that much! according to Sandra CPU test, my cpu currently outperforms the AMDX2 4800+. Maybe it's a waste of money for me to get the FX60 afterall.

i really think its stupid to get the fx 60 now if i were you i would go for a x2 or opty there is not much difference if u oc the opty in a dfi board it will run 2 time better than the fx 60

The only thing the FX processor offers over an X2 is an unlocked multiplier (well, up anyways). In the reviews I've read they got 3 Ghz with the stock cooler. I'm certainly not going to pony up the extra $$$ just for an unlocked chip.

I hate people that try and use this argument. Yes, I could buy a cheaper and lower clocked chip then overclock it to meet the FX60. BUT... if I am going to overclock an opty or whatever, why wouldnt I OC the FX60 as well? I think you will be hard pressed to find any opty OC'ing 3.0G on the stock cooler as the above poster claims.

FX60 isnt the best "bang for the buck", I do agree... I just want something I can maximize performance out of. Not maximize my dollar.

I decided not to buy a FX60 and use the money to buy an opteron175, a WDRaptor150GB and a Hauppage USB2.0 TVTuner with MCE remote and MCE keyboard. They all work out to be exactly the price I would have paid for a FX60 ha ha. I think I'm better off this way.

I'm gonna overclock the Opty175 to 3GHz...fingers crossed!
