i have just put together my new computer but when installing my hiper 580watt type R psu into my thermaltake armour case psu covered the hole i needed to put the retention bracket in.
is the only thing the retention bracket is there for is to hold the psu in becuase the screws seem to be doing the job fine.
is anyone having the same problems?

I have the case and an Enermax Liberty 620W PSU. Not sure which "retention bracket" you are referring to. My PSU "rest" on top of a pre-installed bracket with a sligt "S" curve. That, coupled with the screws from the back keep the PSU firmly in place.

it came in the box that contained the screws and the extra fan and has a foam block on it but if yours is working fine then im sure its not needed

I have the same with my Aspire 600 psu. It fits perfectly but no room for the support bracket, the screws should be good enough, it should hold it.
