6600 GT is a bit better than the X1600 PRO.

I don't know about that, the PRO is a pretty good card, I'd put it more along the lines of X1600<GF6600GT<X1600PRO<X1600XT

Because the X1600XT outperforms the plain X800 and GF6800 by a good margin and the Pro is slightly better than the GT and the plain X1600 lower than the GT.

I'd have to check the benches again. From what i remember, the X1600 PRO is more on par with the 6600 GT, but when it loses it loses a disproportionatley large percentage.

It's those big dips in consistancy that make it a questionable gaming card. But I expect it do scale better as games use more and more shaders...

But you're probably right to be concerned about the power supply... what brand is it?

I have a Emachines t6212. The PSU I believe is 300, 350 max, I will have to check. Would it be possible to run the x800GTO on either of those? I know the 6600GT is fine on a 300w, not sure about the 1600. If it turns out I can run the GTO on my PSU then I will get it. Time to do some research!

Also, what kind of FPS would be expected on CS:S
1G(2x512) PC32000 Corsair
AMD3200+ @ 2.0ghz
and with one of the above cards

I just bought a 6600GT and my 350W PS wasn't enough :(
if it was some jnc or codegen may be.
P4 630 + Gf6800+2xHdd+2x515+cd+dvd+dvdrw works absolutely normal with fortron 300W

6600gt is better than 1600pro,but like other says for this money you'd better take X800Gto

Well, if you're lucky and your psu has at least 13A on the 12 Volt rail, you'll have no problem.

I´ve got a a p4c@3.2 and I play CS:S at 1280x1024 no problem at medium settings or even high (depends on the map), no AA or AF. For my experience i'd advise u to get the 6600gt, maybe the xfx @ 500/1000. But it's your wallet... x800gto?

ps: if you aren't benchmarking enable vsync all the time

Ya know, I thought so too but it was a 350W Enermax. It only had like 13W on the 12V rail though.
