From the thread about A320 OM.. here's a clip of antenna locations.
There's a group of aircraft designers in each company that deal with
RF and microwave systems. All antennas must meet RF requirements
such as effective radiated power and directivity (coverage). Also..
all must interop without interference.

If one proposes to drill a hole in someones aircraft.. such as to
surface-mount a device or run cables inside the vehicle.. it first
must get run by the engineering girls at the aircraft plant to check
that all specs are met. :)

Must have been one of those engineering girls that put the radar way
ahead of the aircraft :-((
