I have a MSI neo4 platinum mobo with a nforce4 ultra raid AND a second silicon image 3114 raid controller.
In the moment i am using the slicon image 3114 controlling running a raid 0 with two Samsung 2504C 250GB SATA II drives.

The benchmark results are disapointing:
one drive scored in Sisoft Sandra benchmark with 58Mb/s
the raid reached 88mb/s

Would the nforce raid be better?
Do I have to buy a "better" controller?

The SI3114 controller supports SATA-I only. Use the nvidia/nforce sata controller as it supports SATA-II.

I have this exact mobo and have 2 wd 250gb SE SATA-II drives in RAID 1 that get 170mb/s burst and 50mb/s average read/write using HDTach. With RAID 0 you should get better.

SilImge 3114 RAID / SATA is a pseudo controller. So nVidia nForce 4 is a "better" one.
I tough that ASUS makes better MoBos than MSI!

I do prefer ASUS and specially A8N SLI Premium (over ASUS A8N SLI 32) cause has 8 SATA ports.

ASUS has plenty of nice "enhancementd" whic counts.
