I have an Asus A8N5X and a GeForce 6800 GS. 756mb of PC 2700 and a Western Digital 80 gig SATA, WD800JD. I install Windows XP Pro just fine without any hickups. However after I install Service Pack 2 it automatically restarts. I can go into safe mode though and I am able to roll back the service pack. After I roll back the service pack, Windows will boot up just fine. It will also boot up just fine with SP1. I have updated the BIOS of my motherboard and have used the latest drivers for my video card and motherboard. I have even tried to use the old drivers to no avail. I have also switched around my sticks of RAM but that didn't work either. I am stumped and I dont know what to do next. I was thinking it could be a RAM compatibility issue but I'm not sure. It sounds like there is some kind of driver issue. Any ideas?

It could be a driver issue, I'd try disabling the sound driver first, then a modem (if you have one installed)

I'd highly doubt your vid card is an issue, but perhaps sata drivers or something of that nature could be causing it.

Hope you get it fixed.

Hi
Im new to forums so bear with me, I had same problem, downloaded fix from mesh computers here in uk. there is one fix for cd of sp2 & 1 fix for download of sp2.
Just download & then install sp2, then install fix when in safe mode.
Worked a treat for me.
Hope this helps.
