I am trying to introduce my friend to overclocking. He has a pretty nice computer, and probably very overclockable, but it is an HP. And as any person who has ever owned a "mainstream" computer (probably everyone ever) the BIOS is severly crippled. It is just a modified Award BIOS and I wanted to know, before I fry his computer that if I flash a regular Award Bios , if it would work or if it would crash and burn.

If you get the original BIOS it will work. I recently flashed my own. In my case (hp 4296.se) I flashed with the original MSI BIOS.

The original BIOS enabled SATA RAID and onboard VGA, but didn't do much for overclocking since the original Award was quite lame to start with.
