Friends, I need your help.

I've started a new job with a boutique travel agency and its a family run business with only 8 staff.

Apart from personal discussions/concerns with my good mate Tom, its been good so far for me here with my personal workplace freedom at all time highs (could be a good or bad thing for Bomber, I know you may think :lol: )

I'm managing groups for sports and the marketing side of things which suits my professional background and personal interests.

But my first project is an interesting one: how to improve the website's hits? Its a nice little site and there's room for improvement, but the boss is interested in improving search engine hits.

Now, of course, in an ideal business fiscal situation we would simply pay to be put to the top of the list; but I'm interested in anything we can do for minimal cost to improve our exposure.

I trust my friends down here like there's no tomorrow, so I wanted to ask here first.

Where's the link to preferred air carrier from the U.S., U.K., Japan, Germany..ect
Cruises from Japan, Hawaii, N.Z....links to shipping lines to whom your allied...Get them to foot half the bandwith bill through co-op advert. dollars

Also Ads for sports best friend... Beer!!!

And maybe your larger venues would like to advertise on your site...Big money horse track, Aussie football teams...Chit man grab the bull by the horns... Assert yourself!!!

Newish site and the boss has been running these tours for over 25 years so the clientele appreciate a non-ads based site.

However, I'm very keen to see a progressive advertising scheme implemented. I agree with your summary totally; but this wasn't what my original question was about: I'm concerned with search engines at this stage; particularly google, yahoo, msn etc..

But, yes, absolutely, I want a relationship built up with our larger ops so that we've got a small revenue stream associated with the site and its advertising capabilites.

Good to see ya on the boards. I'm actually the one that's been missing.

IMO, the main thing your missing on your website (or at least in the code) that will help you more than anything is keywords. Links as mentioned already are very important too.

I just bought a domain name (TravelAutoHotel.com) and have it added as a subdomain at the moment.

my meta keywords go like this :

<meta name="KEYWORDS" content="travel, travel site, travel
agency, online travel agency, travel info, travel deal, travel
planner, top travel, discount travel, destination, vacation, cheap
travel, best travel, bargain travel, hotels,airlines,car rental reservations,
airline tickets,cruises,vacations">

Of course a brand new one page site can't back up such a long list of key words. Content and lots of relevant links would though.

Hers a link to Google's key word generator. I typed in sports tour and there was 11.8 million hits on that phrase alone .

Decide on what keywords you want and place into the header :
<meta name="KEYWORDS" content="all, your, keywords, separated, by, commas">

Its damn good to see you too. Have missed our Skype chats and have only now got a new headset to play with (weekends are the only time I have anymore with me currently working 10-11 hr days).

Also have just started online gaming which has been devilishly good fun (upgraded my dsl connection speed).

Health is OK. I had another cancer operation but it's nothing to worry about.

I was just thinking a day or two ago that we haven't talked on Skype in quite a while. I was right thinking now that your a working man again you are pressed for time. Just call anytime. I've got my number forwarding to my cell phone so I won't miss your call.

I've got to get off here and try to sleep.
By the way, the forum moved. I put it on the same server as overvolt. Stop by the new one and re-register or I'll be glad to set up a account for you or any of the old members if you would like.
