I was going to buy a ASUS AV8 MB but research revealed multiple minor faults eg. repeated booting for no reason, etc, but it still is a goog MB when the faults are ironed out.

A better purchase is a ASUS A8N5X MB with the NF4 chipset - faster, more and finer VCore adjustments, etc and at around $149 Aus, a good buy. :D

yeah via chipsets are pieces of crap they are not compatible with most ram and they do not fair good agianst n force chips(my kt880 dragon with via chip from soyo was being beaten by my asus a7n8x-x with nforce 2 in nearly every app and it could'nt run some of my ram)bottom line via sucks ass!

My ecs board with via k8t800pro chipset works fine. But if you want to use an agp card, check out the asrock dual sata II board with both agp and pci-e slots. It's less expensive than mine, and gives you the option of pci-e later.
