ok quick question some kid at the pc shop told me thet the opty s939's can support both ecc ram(unbuffered) and non ecc ram is this true?

Not sure, but my A8R-MVP has ECC options in BIOS for it, allong with ECC scrub and other utilities, but I am not using ECC memory.

I wouldn't bet on it, no ECC motherboards exist for 939 as far as I know.

ECC is a pain in the ass, i agree. slower and does not have any overclockability whatsoever. Also, very expensive. Ironic Microcrap wants to push it with Vista, most likely so they can slack off and create some extra buggy code and then blame problems on our unbuffered memory...
