External Hard Drive Case and Passive Cooling
Feb 13, 2006, 8:02 PM
I see a lot of HD cases on the market that are passively cooled and few with fans in them. Has anyone been running a passively cooled harddrive for extended periods of time.
I am considering the Vantec ESata / Usb enlcosue. It looks like solid construction.

external hard drive case passive cooling

Definitely go for an aluminum case. I used a plastic one for awhile. The hard drive would get hot enough to melt the plastic a little if the drive touched it.
