Not many people will know what NCIX is, while there are alot of Candians here, best to post a link so they know what you're talking about in the future.

FireGL and Quadro cards are workstation cards, and while they are based on the same chips as some gaming cards, they usually have better PCBs, specialised drivers and they have additional certification processes required for industry. Also hey if it's a company card (like car) we can probably charge more since it's usually a business expense/write-off.

Overall you pay for the additional quality and specialised driver teams, and because the companies feel they can charge that price.

And if you think that card is expensive, that's nothing for the workstation market.
