After uninstalling the Stearman Kaydet freeware bi-plane / Eagle Field
scenery (via the automatic uninstaller that it came with), I got the
following error upon starting FS2004:
"SCENERY.CFG file error. Local scenery directory (Addon Scenery\SCENERY) in
scenery Area.038 not found. Click OK to continue."
I was able to eliminate the error by creating an empty folder in the "Addon
Scenery" folder called "Scenery". This folder had, apparently, been
inadvertently deleted by the Stearman04 uninstaller.
My question is: Were there any files in that folder that are gone now? All
of the scenery that I have added was put into different sub-directories of
"Addon Scenery". But, what about files from the default installation of
FS2004? Anything I need to replace from the CDs?

In the default load that folder (and one named texure) are created but
nothing is put into them. The parent folder that contains them (addon
scenery) is made "active" in the default scenery.cfg. The intent is
that 3rd party scenery can be installed simply by copying files to these
two folders. In practice, other than for a quick try out, it generally
is not recommended to do this, rather, create a new scenery area and
use the scenery library controls to add the area. So, if you or a
scenery auto installer used the addon scenery area to place files, they
are now lost.

I have solved this one before by going into the scenery.cfg file and
deleting the reference to Area.038. That stops it calling for the scenery
which is no longer there.
