One point about the article.. IBM always say that about everything.. IBM
employees are given a common corporate platform that they must use.. they
also have access to an internal download site where they can download
software that has been passed as ok to have.. one can understand their
viewpoint as they do not want their internal system crippled by unauthorized
installs that have not been tested against all that each workstation can
access on the IBM Intranet.. this has to be seen as a general
safety/security precaution, and in no way implies that other software would
not be safe to run for computer users outside of their network..
