Check all connections inside and outside....
Update drivers........for the usb ports and for your mouse and game pad
While you are at it, go to microsoft website look for updates.....easiest things to do before you replace a piece of hardware.
Check your BIOS settings and make sure USB support hasn't been disabled. If so, how old is your CMOS battery? If over a year, note your system settings and then replace it.
